요즘 브루클린 브리지가 지어진 과정을 설명하는 책을 읽고 있다. 엔지니어링/공사 도구 및 technical terms를 아는게 없어서 단어 하나 건너 하나씩 찾아보는 중이고, 단어를 열심히 찾아봐도 이해가 잘 되지 않는다. 그래서 굉장히 흥미로운 책이지만 내용의 80%만 이해하고 있어서 아쉬운 중...

그래서 오늘 찾아본 단어 중 대부분은 공사관련 단어들 :)

현무암이 뭔지 모르지만 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 왜 한국말로 뜻을 보면 갑자기 이해가 되는 것 같지?

동물의 지방 중에서 딱딱한 지방

남편이 바베큐 만든 다음에 beef tallow로 감싸면 고기가 더 촉촉해진다고 얘기하는 유투브 비디오를 봤다고 얘기해서 알게 됨

 

muck

dirt, rubbish, or waste matter.

"I'll just clean the muck off the windshield"

다리 지을 때 강바닥에 muck을 치워야한다고 책에서 나옴

영국영어/영국사투리로는 spread manure on (manure (머뉴어)는 똥으로 만든 거름)
